Just steps from Lincoln, a couple from California sat at the top of the memorial. Lincoln logsĪ couple takes in the statue of Abraham Lincoln as the morning light starts to shine on May 18. In honor of the anniversary, Washington Post journalists chronicled one of those days, from sunup to sundown. History doesn’t happen at the memorial every day, but something compelling or strange or funny or sad certainly does. Smith had an epiphany, that Forrest Gump reunited with the woman he loved, that the bachelors from “Wedding Crashers” finished a bottle of champagne, that Lisa from “The Simpsons” sought wisdom. It was at the Lincoln that Jimmy Stewart’s Mr. 6, 2021, he caught glimpses in the distance of insurrectionists storming the U.S. Beneath the 16th president’s steadfast gaze, African Americans, Native Americans, liberals, conservatives, independents, theists, atheists, hippies, veterans, anti-vaxxers, comedians, Juggalos and hundreds of other groups have gathered to demonstrate.

On the steps in front of him, Marian Anderson sang for the nation in 1939, and the Rev. And though he doesn’t appear to have aged much through the decades (kept youthful by a rigid skin-care routine of dusting, brushing and pressure washing), the centenarian has borne witness to history countless times. In the meantime Sam tries hitting on Jenny - who is almost foot taller than him! The story is about the dilemma each character is caught in.On May 30, a nation nearly as polarized as it was in Lincoln’s day will mark the 100th anniversary of the memorial’s dedication. Ashley meets Aryan Bhargav (Kapil Sharma) through a website and fall in love. It is revealed he got married to Jenny only because of social pressure but he likes men and not women. Ashley gets married to Jenny (Rituparna Sengupta) and stays with her for 5 years but is never manages to satisfy her needs physically. To make ends meet and fulfill her familial responsibilities, Rebecca gets into many relationships with men who can provide for her living. Rebecca (Zeenat Aman) is a single mother bringing up two children Ashley (Yuvraaj Parashar) and Sam (Maradona Rebello). Hence casting someone who could carry the character takes a backseat.ĭYNJK is about an Anglo Indian family from Goa. It would have been pretty hard to find someone to do a dare bare, when the other person is the same gender. The casting in this film is for convenience. Second thing that goes wrong is the casting. In this film we find the characters creating their own grammar.

But when you decide to make a film in English the least you can do is keep the grammar right. The film anyway is not for the smaller centers and mass audience. The makers probably decided English is a good language as that gives it a bigger reach in the metros and abroad. After taking into account that it has it usual screenplay drawback, the next thing that goes wrong with it is the language. That apart, DYNJK fails to create any interest in it as a film. We have had films like Girlfriend and Fire talking about lesbianism though. 'Dunno Y' that way is probably the first film we have completely dedicated to male homosexuality.

Gay relationships have hardly been tackled in India - apart from fleeting mentions in films like Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula. The film has long been touted as India's Brokeback Mountain. Dunno Y… Naa Jaane Kyu finally arrives after much delay and hype.
